How to Prepare Your Dahlias for the Winter Storage - Includes 3 Dahlia Tubers - October 28
One of the questions I'm asked most often as autumn begins is: What should I do with my dahlias?
Come to Alchemy Farm, Sunday October 28 from 10 am to noon, to find out first hand how to get your beautiful dahlia babies ready for hibernation. We'll spend three hours together - rain or shine - and go over the basics. You'll have lots of opportunities to ask questions and gain first hand experience.
We'll begin with some basic dahlia information - did you know that the tubers can be a food source? We'll spend some time in the garden where I'll show you how to dig up tubers, what to be aware of as you do it, what tools are best. You'll get to dig up a tuber yourself to work with the rest of the workshop. We'll go over cleaning the tubers, splitting them and discuss various methods of storing them through the winter. You'll also get to take 3 Alchemy Farm dahlia tubers (value $15) home to store for the winter.
All supplies - plus coffee, tea, water and snack - are included but feel free to bring your own favourite garden clippers and gloves and rain gear - boots, umbrella, coat, hat - if it's raining.
Maximum of 12 participants.
